Master the Art of Jewelry Retouching
Would you like to learn how to retouch jewelry from a pro?
We can help you. Getting lessons from a professional retoucher speeds up the process tremendously. Jewelry is one of the most challenging subjects to retouch. Between complex reflections and tiny imperfections, the self-taught path can take years.
During my 20 years of retouching, I’ve worked with numerous jewelry companies and received constant feedback. In general, all jewelry companies want the same thing: to make their photos look better. Because I’ve been getting this feedback since 20 years ago until now, I know exactly what they want.
Retouching is not something that constantly changes. Once you reach a pro level, you are good to go. There is no “magic” that you need to update every year. If somebody claims there is, they’re bullshitting. Our one-on-one coaching is designed to fast-track your career, turning hours of frustration into a streamlined, professional workflow.
How We Work
We offer online, one-on-one coaching over Zoom or Microsoft Teams. Our coaching is individually based. You can send us samples of your current work, and we will decide the best way to train you. If you are a beginner, it can take a lot of time to become a pro on your own. We can assess your skill level and quickly fill the gaps you need to become a professional.
Time is Money
This is so true. A shortcut to becoming a top-tier retoucher is vital. High-quality retouching can directly increase sales for the jewelry you are selling. If you work for a company, better results can lead to a promotion or a higher salary.
Why Jewelry Companies Prefer In-House Retouchers
Many companies are afraid to show their designs to the public before a launch. If they send their images to a massive retouching house abroad, those shots can get leaked. I’ve witnessed this paranoia myself—companies often see similar designs pop up from competitors before their official release because of leaks.
This is why they usually require signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to keep their images secret. Because of this, you can get a cushy job inside a big jewelry company just by being a trusted, skilled retoucher.
Refining Your Specific Skills
You might already be pretty good at jewelry retouching but lack skills in specific areas like color grading or creating natural shadows. We can quickly bring you up to a professional level in those specific details.
Reaching Industrial Standards
You could be retouching for years and still have companies brush you off because they don’t like your style. A major mistake we see is over-retouching, which makes the jewelry look fake.
No major company wants to display “fake” looking photos; only small businesses that will never become big sellers do that. Buyers are not stupid—they know when jewelry looks fake. Our training teaches you how to meet the actual industrial standards of the jewelry world.
